Authentic Indonesian … Caught up with my old friend Michelle in Mandurah this week. Dining at a cafe called Warung Ade which offered authentic Indonesian food. The telltale umbrellas outside reminded me of Bali and the menu presented the opportunity to try something new.

The waitperson was very pleasant and happy to offer us water. We discussed the menu and she suggested I try the Crispy Chicken. My friend opted for Beef Rendang.

The food, when it came, was beautifully presented and adorned with fresh herbs and salads. Didn’t think I would like the crispy chicken when I saw it. But the chicken was really something and combined well with the rice and spicy sambal sauce. The crispy chicken was crispy and crunchy, excellent texture. Not something you would associate with chicken usually.

The Beef Rendang received a double thumbs up from Michelle. Pleasantly spicy, with plenty of coconut flavour.

Good value for money and a pleasant place to dine. The dishes were on the lunch special menu and were $11.50 each. Would definitely return to try the Satay and other dishes.

Must admit that it was great to be in Mandurah again. As a kid we used to come down for a holiday. We’d fish and swim and succumb to the big attraction of the Amusement Park. Great memories. It’s also good to see that Mandurah is becoming a Foodie destination. With stand out Restaurants like Duck Duck Moose.

The Mandurah Council have built a Boardwalk which stretches out into Mandjar Bay. Walking around taking in the ambience had me thinking I was in some other place, it’s quite a sophisticated venue. With plenty of room for expansion. Will be keeping an eye on this destination.
