An Honest, Plain and Simple Chicken Roll … Do you know how hard it is to get a good “plain” Chicken Roll in my area? One with decent bread, not poor quality white bread that gives you mega carbs and no nutrients? And, just Chicken and Salad? Well, after months of looking, I’ve found a place that appears to have produced the goods.
Of all places to find my roll, Dog Swamp Shopping Centre was perhaps my least likely venue. And, to be honest, if I’d blinked I might have missed this venue. A tiny little Café called Café Central in the middle of the arcade, right outside Woolworths. Apparently they have a sister café in Victoria Park.
The Cafe is attractively laid out with comfortable seating. A large Display Cabinet of food holds plenty of Savoury and Sweet goods. And, it all looks pretty tempting. If I had blinked and missed the cafe I couldn’t have missed the very pleasant aroma of their coffee beans. A return visit is in order to test run their java.
Noticed their Chicken Roll straight away because that was some good looking bread it was housed in. Lots of seeds and crunch going on. The chicken was breast meat and thickly sliced. They had added avocado to simple lettuce and some pretty classy old school cheddar cheese. There was also a smear of good quality mayonnaise.
So, took my treasure home to eat later and of course to get Xena’s opinion. Most noteworthy was the price, because at $7.50 (pretty sure) this was good value. Because this was a really good, old school Chicken Roll that was available in my area.
