Cottesloe Seaside Adventures, 12 Km South West of Perth CBD.
A Tale of Three Cafes … Baker Street Bakery – The Blue Duck Cafe – Amberjacks. Icy winds were blowing over Cottesloe Beach when I arrived. But I was rugged up for the weather so that was fine. Also, it seems that my timing was off for two of the three places on my list.
Baker Street Bakery
First stop was the Baker Street Bakery, in Napoleon Street. Unfortunately, it was a little disappointing because they don’t open on Sundays. Seems those Ficelle Rolls and Quiches will have to wait for another day. Shame.
The Blue Duck
Regrouped and headed for The Blue Duck. This café is kind of an institution in Cottesloe and has been around for a very long time. Was surprised when I saw that it had been rebuilt / renovated. On entering the Café, it was obvious they had organised things to take advantage of those Ocean Views. Stunning.
I ordered a coffee and was led to a table right by the window. Yay.
About half way through my coffee I started to feel very warm and took off my jacket. It didn’t help. Decided to ignore it and read the menu. The heaters were on full blast though and I needed to leave before I overheated.
The coffee was sensational and I will definitely be back to eat at this cute café. Lots of small plates of delicious sounding food on the menu, just my sort of thing.
Amberjacks
By this time I was seriously hungry. So headed off to my third and final destination Amberjacks Fish and Chips.
I lucked into more beautiful Cottesloe Beach views at this tiny Café. Ordered Grilled Mackeral and Chips and took a seat by the Window. No heaters this time, so, temperature wise, I was okay.
The Staff bought the food over and everything came in take away containers. Voila, your own doggy bag. The fish was a large serve of two thick white pieces, grilled to perfection.
Most noteworthy were the Chips, as they were so well seasoned. It was a nice meal, total cost $18.30.
Ciao Cottesloe
So, my Cottesloe Seaside Adventures at an end, I took some photos of “The Groin” and “Gage Roads” and went home.
