I Got You, That’s All I Want … For me the idea of a Gourmet Pie Shop is like Satori, Nirvana, Shangri La. Um, you get the idea, I like Pies. So, Tuck Shop Café is a Pie Shop and Delicatessen run by one of Perth’s Top Chefs. Making this place the virtual Pie Mother Ship. So, off I went to Northbridge.
Chef and Co-Owner Paul Cherry established the Café a few years ago now. This was after leaving his Head Chef position at the Subiaco Hotel. A little tired of the long hours in the Hotel Kitchen he decided Tuck Shop work days would finish around 3.00pm. So Paul and his Wife Iva’s lives became simpler and happier.
And, the place has been wildly successful since it opened its doors. The crowds came and stayed. I was there perhaps ten minutes before it opened and there were already tables taken. It’s not my first time at Tuck Shop but it was the first time with a camera.
So, I ordered the Chicken, White Wine and Leek Pie for $12.95. And, yes, Pies can be a Breakfast thing, tch, don’t judge. When the Pie arrived it was sitting in a small pool of great looking Gravy. It all looked and smelled just lovely.
The pie was filled with great looking Chicken, a white wine sauce and those Leeks. The Meat was so tender, it just melted in my mouth. The sauce perfectly complimented the flavours and the Gravy just added a little dab of perfect to the taste combinations.
This is possibly the best Pie ever.
Thanks for the food, service and the atmosphere. Tuck Shop is as new and fresh as the first time I visited.
