Cherry And Grapes – Coffee – Food

Standard

Cherry And Grapes, 20 Emerald Terrace, West Perth.

Beyond The Sea … The Olive Tree in West Perth has closed and taking its place is Cherry And Grapes. And a big bonus is that the café is housed in a beautiful Heritage Listed Building.

We didn’t really know what to expect but the first thing that hit us was the professionalism of the wait staff. Water, menus and “sit where you’d prefer” was a nice touch. It’s not too hard to make a customer feel welcome and they have it down pat.

We ordered coffee straight away and it was delicious, nothing more needs to be said.

Xena ordered the Vegetarian Big Breakfast which presented really well with loads of the usual suspects. And, some pretty outstanding sourdough bread. I was allowed to steal the mushrooms but Xena kept her eye on the Avocado.

So, Xena received a big plate of food; with two poached eggs, spicy house beans, sourdough bread, potato cake, avocado, spinach and baked tomato. And, finish it she did.

For me it was “Cake By The Ocean”, or beyond the sea, a Cod fish potato cake in Panko crumbs. Attractively placed around the plate were diced cornichons and capers. So, that’s the second time in a week that’s happened. Oh, and I asked for the Hollandaise on the side so I could take it slowly.

So, my take, the food is beautiful and we agreed it was edgier than a number of brunch places. It was the attention to detail, plus the flavour combinations which were so specific and the well constructed depth of those flavours.
