Raise The Roof … Shenton Park has a new venue, Raisin’ Bakery. And what they mean by Raisin’ is, for example, raising the dough or the roof or maybe even the kids? You get it I’m sure.
Second time in a month I’ve walked into a bakery with a glass petition between the café and the actual bakery kitchen. Still think it’s a great idea to let customers watch the kneading and baking.
So, the first thing to catch my eye was the glass display case in the middle of the space. Lots of very good looking pastries, brioche and choc and Matcha buns. I noticed a brioche with custard and kiwi fruit that had my name on it, so I ordered a coffee to go with it.
The coffee was amazing, end of story. The brioche was so soft and pleasant, a bit like cake but with a definite chew. And, who knew there were yellow kiwi fruit, not me that’s for sure. $9.00 for the two items.
Looking over the menu my interest was piqued by the Curry Baguette with mashed eggs and sprouts.
The roll was made with Japanese Curry Paste and Onions; it was delightful with the creamy eggs. $8.00.
Deciding that Xena would want in on the action as well, another roll was selected to share. Quinoa Bread, Roast Vegetables, Haloumi and Avocado with a Sesame dressing.
Loved the flavours in this sandwich and the generous serve of vegetables. $8.50.
So, a very pleasant experience from start to finish. Food, Coffee and Service were fab.
