Always Searching For Paradise … That’s the game people play when they eat out. So, early this morning I ventured out to Wembley to try the food at My Vicino.
My Vicino sits in the space formerly occupied by Solstice Café.
The good news is that brunch is still on offer but this time there is an Italian influence.
At night the venue is BYO and transforms into an Italian Trattoria. Think pasta, street food share plates and Bruschetta just like Nona used to make. In fact, I’m pretty sure Nona makes an appearance now and then.
So, I was there for brunch and ordered a short Macchiato and a devilishly delightful brunch plate called Peppe.
The coffee was awesome and the pick-me-up I needed at this time of the morning, read that as caffeine hit.
My food had the best looking potato, capsicum and aubergine Ratatouille ever, perched on two pieces of sourdough bread and topped with a crispy fried egg.
And, was it good? It was just delightful eating and I noticed a different taste straight away which turned out to be Nduja butter on the bread.
It was only later I discovered that butter was a euphemism for this traditional meat spread. But it was light, not intrusive and added to the overall taste sensation going on.
Bliss. I will be returning to try the Pasta for sure.
