Dogtown Beerfood, 515 Beaufort Street, Highgate, Phone 9227 8015.
Roll Out Those Lazy, Hazy, Crazy Days Of Summer … There’s another Burger Bar in town. Dogtown Beerfood, has opened in the venue formerly occupied by Starfish Bar & Grill.
Once I’d read Dogtown Beerfood’s menu, a visit was practically mandatory, some all time favourites on that list. And, It’s not only Burgers, as Fish Tacos and Fried Chicken also make an appearance.
Feral Brewery supply the Beers and Cider, plus they offer wine by the glass, albeit a very short list.
So, who could go past the Buttermilk Fried Chicken, not me that’s for sure. This was an upmarket Burger with a very tender chicken fillet that had been deep fried, so it was crispy outside and juicy inside. Perfecto.
Iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, chipotle mayonnaise and a milk bun completed my burger. Portion sizes are very large but I did eat most of the burger and about half the chips.
Oh, and those chips, some crispy, some soft, just the way I like them and the seasoning, salt and chilli. Just excellent. Of course, this means I will want to eat those chips on a regular basis.
One small thing, those milk buns need to be toasted, it would just make such a huge difference to the textures.
Really like the bikes, skateboards and other hipster decorations around the place. It’s still a great split level venue.
