You Spin Me Right Round … The Local was formerly Layup, which is a café I’m sure you all remember. The local has inherited the premises and décor wise it is clean, crisp and aesthetically pleasing.
I was sad to hear about what happened to Layup because I enjoyed their food and coffee immensely. It seems that after spending a lot of money on renovations, the owner of the building took the premises back. Please don’t quote me on that because I heard the news through the foodie grapevine.
But let’s talk about food. I ordered the gnocchi (predictable) with burnt butter and sage. The interesting thing about this plate of pasta was that each piece was filled with delightful house made cheese.
It was a little like a lasagne top and bottom pasta then filled with cheesy goodness and cut into individual pieces. The meal was surprisingly different but the lush cheese and burnt butter blended together exceptionally well.
Need to return to try their famous crumbed chicken sandwich, which I’m told is sensational.
Delicious gnocchi, staff were attentive and the café itself is gorgeous.
