Oggi Bar & Eats, 300 Walcott Street, Menora, Phone 9370 3373.
I’ve Heard A Rumour From Ground Control … That there’s a new bar in Menora. Oggi Bar & Eats is the pet project of Michael Tamburri, owner of popular La Vigna Liquor Merchants on Walcott Street.
Together with his Brother Tony, they have taken over the vacant property next to La Vigna.
Tony has been involved in “dressing” the space and I must say it certainly captures your attention.
Especially the “Mirror Room” where the Bar and open kitchen are housed. It’s like walking into Marie Antoinette’s Boudoir and I mean that in the nicest possible way.
The Wine list has an impressive selection of wines by the glass at around the $10 mark. And, of course there is access to La Vigna’s far from modest selection of bottled wine.
This visit was just to try the “Bar Eats”, so a small plate of Thai Fish Cakes was ordered. And, the plate of food presented very well courtesy of Chef Adam Lake.
The fish cakes were sitting on top of house made Chilli Jam with Coriander leaves scattered around. A delicious plate of food with just the right amount of spice.
Oh, and the coffee, from the young Barista, was just lovely. Not too hot, with lots of Crema in the froth which is just the way I like it.
Just a word on the Bar Eats Menu and their make your own Antipasti / Charcuterie plates. For someone like myself, who doesn’t eat red meat, this is the best ever way to assemble my own plate of food. Next time.
What I also found exciting was artwork in the bathrooms by local glass artist Greg Ash. These creations are worth a visit just to admire the complex Artisan crafting and lighting effects.
