And the beat goes on … Big fan of ilPasto’s Inglewood Trattoria and first time dining experience at ilPasto Mount Hawthorn. The beat definitely goes on in this sister trattoria. A new building but furnished with old memorabilia and photos, giving it a very nostalgic Italian feel.
The new restaurant is a little noisy and a little bustling but not unbearable. The wooden floors alter the acoustics somewhat but we soon got used to it. We were greeted with a smile and promptly shown to our table. Plenty of room between tables. No cramped in feel here. In general service was pretty good all night.
And then we get to the food, which is authentic Sicilian food. The word luscious springs to mind because everything not only looked delicious but had big flavours and tasted amazing. Xena and I shared a prawn starter. Sweet prawns with a piquant fennel sauce, mouth-wateringly good.
Xena’s Risotto Milanese was al dente, full of flavour and topped with some pretty fine Parmigiano Reggiano. My Eggplant Lasagne, of course, had lashings of Pasta in a Tomato Ragu, Smoky Eggplant and topped with Parmigiano. It was a memorable meal.
Overall, I think this place carries on the tradition started with the Inglewood Restaurant very well. Kudos.
