Let’s Go To The Mall … Was wandering around the City the other day looking for lunch. Came across the Enex100 Mall in Hay Street. Wow, impressive place. Luxurious. Went upstairs and discovered the Food Court. More like a Royal Palace. Such a grand establishment for a Food Court.
Took a long walk around all the stalls, so much choice. Really good coffee shops. Loads of Asian food. Not your run of the mill Franchises here. Then I found Phi-Yen Vietnamese. We had had a memorable meal at Phi Yen in Northbridge not so long ago. So the choice was simple, Chicken Noodle Soup.
Xena had been at an appointment but joined me for lunch in the mall. Once I mentioned Phi Yen Vietnamese.
We ordered the soup straight away. The ladies of Phi Yen made sure we understood the ins and outs. For example, that there were numerous condiments we could add to the soup. Hoisin, Soy, Sriracha, Fresh Chillis and Lemon Juice. So we picked up a few little plastic cups and filled them up.
Navigating back to the table with two enormous, boiling hot soup bowls, was a little alarming. But we made it, safe and sound.
Tasting the broth led me to think it needed a little seasoning. So I added a little of all the sauces, some fresh chillis and lemon. It got the boost of flavour it needed and I settled in to enjoy my meal. The soup also had sliced chicken breast, bean sprouts, onions, coriander and mint.
The mint was a little overpowering for me. But Xena thought it was just right.
The chicken was a little chewy for me. But Xena liked it. Do you think you can see a pattern forming here?
It was a pleasant meal because the Mall is so amazing. Just like sitting in a Palace to eat. And, of course the company was good. The food, for me, was a bit of a let down. Compared to the meal we had at Phi Yen in Northbridge, it was below par.
Xena, of course, enjoyed hers thoroughly.
