A Dainty Little Sister … The Dainty Dowager is the sister restaurant to Leederville’s Low Key Chow House. It’s been on my wish list for a while now so we headed there for lunch.

We were there just as it opened and had the place to ourselves for a short while. Snapped up that opportunity to take some photos of the gorgeous Asian influenced décor. It is completely different to the LKCH but has a similar Asian funky chic thing going on.

There is a large bar along one wall and the seating is broken up into a few areas with partitions. The kitchen is along the back wall with windows showcasing their hanging Roasted Ducks.

Dainty’s bill themselves as the first Asian Roasting House in Perth. They offer Pork two ways, Crispy Roasted Pork and Char Sui Barbeque Pork. Oh, and the Duck, of course.

They have a really nice drinks menu with loads of wine by the glass on offer. Ordered a glass of their $9.00 Cava and it was excellent, very dry and loads of fizz. We were given a small plate of complimentary Lotus Root Chips, a nice gesture.

Our server was very attentive, even explaining the menu to us. She also suggested ordering two or three share plates to see how we went food wise. This was a good idea because three plates were enough food for us.

Service was reminiscent of LKCH as we had a similar experience with our waiter there.

The Duck Bao was perfect for me. Delicious House roasted duck, thick caramelly, salty Hoisin sauce and fresh greens. All wrapped in a pillowy soft Bao bun. Xena wasn’t as big a fan so I scored two of the three pieces.

The Spring Rolls were large and filled with noodles made from Sweet Potato. So, there were also a few vegetables in the mix and a great Black Bean / Satay Sauce combination. A very different and tasty dish.

The Karaage Chicken was dusted in some very tasty salt. A great plate of food, combined with the fiery Sambal Sauce. Xena’s favourite, she ate most of it but I managed a few pieces.

Such a lovely meal.
