Monte Fiore Cafe, 628 Beaufort Street, Mount Lawley WA 6050, Phone 9227 9898.
Mandatory Revisit … Monte Fiore is one of the oldest restaurants in Mount Lawley. Predominately home style Italian meals served to white table clothed tables with a pleasant view of bustling Beaufort Street.
The last time I was there, however, the acoustics and the pricing left me with a lacklustre feeling about the place. So, Xena and I headed back on a freezing cold day to sample Monte Fiore’s food, atmosphere and service.
The staff were so friendly, seriously, happy and talkative. It was nice to be greeted and seated and looked after.
Noticed straight away that food prices had been reduced. Last time I was there the Prawn Spaghetti came in at $34.00. This time the price was $27.00. That seemed fair to me, so I ordered it to revisit the dish.
Let’s just say that Xena ordered her usual and I ordered a glass of Vallate Prosecco from Treviso at $8.00 a glass.
The food arrived promptly and it looked great. The Prawn Spaghetti was al dente, very fresh and a very large serving. Particularly liked the Sugar Peas, they were delicious. The prawns were great too mind.
One nice touch was a small serving of freshly grated parmesan cheese. Excellent.
Xena’s Pizza was very large as well and received a thumbs up.
We found that we both left half our meals due to not being able to eat so much food. Doggy Bags were offered, a nice touch.
Oh, and the acoustics were very pleasant. The place was quite crowded and the noise was a subtle low hum.
So, that is food, service and atmosphere. All well and truly ticked.
Monte Fiore Cafe closed in March 2017.
Solo Pasta has opened in its place.
