Circa Beaufort 676, 676 Beaufort Street, Mount Lawley, Phone 9371 9971.
Something To Sing About … Circa Beaufort 676 is a restaurant I’ve wanted to visit for a long time. While this past week had me visit twice, once for coffee and cake and the other for a proper meal.
So, for the princely sum of $4.00 I was more than happy to receive a short macchiato. Which was super strong and velvety smooth.
And, an unusual sweet, buttery focaccia bread which was dotted with berry jus and fresh raspberries. Plus two small pots of house made jam, strawberry and apple cinnamon.
That dessert was amazing and I ate every last crumb on my plate. Very different but very delicious and with the addition of the jams, a very memorable dish.
My second visit a week or so later was to try the pasta and I ordered the gnocchi sorrentina. These hand made wheat flour and potato nibbles were swimming in a petite sea of herby, garlicky San Marzano tomato sauce. With a really good depth of flavour and smooth, soft pasta, this dish was outstanding.
Good old fashioned comfort food in a stylish and upmarket setting. The sleekness of the bar and the polished wood reminded me of old English style pubs. While the food, however, was delectable.
Circa also have a Happy Hour which runs between 5.00pm and 6.30pm. I presume that’s everyday, according to the chalkboard. And, with cocktails at $10.00 and wine at $8.00 you will probably need to reserve a table.
