A More Congenial Spot … Searching for scrambled eggs on Labour Day Monday. When, finally, there, lit up like a beacon, was Addison & Steele, so I parked up and went inside.
Addison & Steele secured their name after reading about London’s coffee houses in the 18th century. Joseph Addison and Richard Steele wanted a place to sit, drink coffee and ponder life. And, sometimes these gentlemen would spend 5 or so hours doing just that. I like the idea very much, although spending that length of time would be take up most of your day.
Ordered the scrambled eggs which appeared to be popular that morning. And, I wasn’t disappointed when my plate of food arrived with a spiral of soft butter, sourdough toast and topped with ground black pepper and chives. Impressive.
The eggs tasted buttery, always a good thing, and it was a nice touch to add some spinach. Such great quality bread and I would have to say everything was just about perfect on that plate.
Staff were friendly, coffee aromas wafted around me and the morning sun was shining. Pretty near perfect breakfast spot really.
