Like Sugar And Spice … La Galette de France opened their doors in 2005. Their ethos is to provide happiness and comfort to all their customers. Well, they had me at hello.
So, we found La Galette at the, now defunct, Subiaco Markets. And, it was their chocolate éclairs which made us regular visitors. While I still crave those delicious chewy choux pastries and I would eat them every day but my new motto is everything in moderation.
There are tempting treats everywhere you look, like macarons, filled baguettes, pies, pastries, bread and biscuits.
This visit was all about checking out the café, the coffee and their savoury crepes. And, that java was a knockout, super strong barista coffee with a smooth velvety texture. Oh, and the little palmier biscuit with caramelised sugar was crunchy, sweet and fabulous.
Choosing the cheese and mushroom crepe was a no brainer for me as it’s a favourite combination. The crepe itself was made with buckwheat flour, it was super thin and crisped to perfection. They used a cheddar cheese which was very strong tasting but delightful. While the mushrooms offered a nice chew.
So, the service was great, as was the meal and it was a very pleasant experience.
