Siena’s Sister – CLOSED

Siena’s Sister Roars Back to Beaufort … It was an institution really, the former Sienas that sat in this very same building. But the Restaurant we all knew and loved is back with a bounce in it’s step and a clean, bright makeover. So, the new name reflects its tie-in with Siena’s Leederville.

Brothers-in-Law Anthony Palassis and Andrew Parissis have run Siena’s in Leederville since 1998. And, they are the driving force behind the rebirth of Siena’s Sister in Highgate. And, I for one, am very pleased to see them back. Was a big fan of the former restaurant in its heyday.

Xena and I decided to pay them a visit and we were surprised and, most of all, happy to see the revamped Restaurant. Very nice fixtures and fittings, with a really long Bar and the Wood Fired Pizza Oven sitting quietly in a corner.

Rather comfortable, are words I would use to describe the Restaurant now. We felt right at home and the staff were really friendly and contributed to that feeling. Water, menus and smiles all round.

We ordered drinks and a Pizza to share. Xena’s “Sofia Vergara” cocktail looked and tasted stunning. Watermelon, Orange and Melon Liqueurs, topped off with Fresh Lemon Juice. My glass of fizz was very sophisticated and came from the award winning Clover Hill in Tasmania. At $11.00 this was a terrific tipple.

The Pizza arrived and conversation halted for a while. This was a good crust, with a chewy and dense texture and a great taste. The cheese was just about perfect really, due to creamy mozzarella and a Basil tomatoey sauce. Pretty sure it was Basil I could taste there.

Good to know that their tradition of offering cheaper Pizza and Pasta dishes Monday through Wednesday is still present.

Sadly, Siena’s Sister has closed its doors. I’m particularly sad about this closure because they were doing so well, food, service, everything.

Ischia Restorante has opened in this venue at 500 Beaufort Street, HIghgate.
