Pio’s Cafe, 401 Oxford Street, Mount Hawthorn, Phone 0432 288 540.
Life Is Great … Pio’s Café has opened and I simply adore their ethos; “For the love of food and friendship”. They definitely have the food part worked out in their Bella Cucina. Oh, and they were friendly.
Pio’s Cafe has a limited brunch menu but there is also a large food display cabinet. Think panini, Frittata, Arancini and well just about every corner of their Italian kitchen is covered. Oh, and they haven’t forgotten the desserts.
So, choosing from the display cabinet, for me the Parmigiana stood out as it looked delicious. It was delivered piping hot and a bit caramelised which was above and beyond my expectations.
The tender melanzana layered with exceptional gooey formaggio and an ultra tasty Pomodoro sauce. This was a brilliant dish and at $8.50, good value and aromatic.
Also tried a short macchiato and let me tell you they make a mean cup of java. Yum.
The venue is small but there are tables on the pavement outside as well, all with a nice view of Oxford Street.
So, I’m certain to drop by to try some of the other items that caught my eye, especially those cakes and pastries. Oh, and there is gelato which always a good thing.
With a total cost $10.50 you can do the math and the coffee comes in at $2.00 which is unheard of around these parts.
