Let’s Get Physical … Setting off to try Health Freak Café’s burgers with visions of Olivia Newton John dancing in my head. But it wasn’t like that at all as it turned out. Just a normal café with normal clients who happen to like a healthy diet.

Flamboyant Confidence … The meaning of the word Panache. And, I would suggest Panache Café has that in spades. They are the first café I’ve walked into that has smashed avocado, with a poached egg on top, in the display case for $8.50. Outstanding.

Delightful … Engine Room is a small and cosy café opposite the Rosemount Hotel on Fitzgerald Street. The décor is part industrial, part trashy chic. Decor includes distressed cement floors, exposed ceilings and eclectic furniture.There is a tiny but swish outdoor courtyard.

A Little Haven … Steeling myself against the icy winds on Old Perth Road, I sort haven in To The Woods Cafe. The first thing that struck me was the very strong and delightful smell of coffee. Not overpowering just welcoming. The second thing was how warm and cosy it was inside the Cafe.
