A Little Foodie Haven …The long and the short of it is that Solstice make great food and coffee. It’s a grand looking place from the Street with all the greys, blacks and blues but it’s very comfy inside.
Health Freak Cafe, Beaux Lane, 609 Beaufort Street, Mount Lawley, Phone 9328 3125.
Let’s Get Physical … Setting off to try Health Freak Café’s burgers with visions of Olivia Newton John dancing in my head. But it wasn’t like that at all as it turned out. Just a normal café with normal clients who happen to like a healthy diet.
Flamboyant Confidence … The meaning of the word Panache. And, I would suggest Panache Café has that in spades. They are the first café I’ve walked into that has smashed avocado, with a poached egg on top, in the display case for $8.50. Outstanding.
Engine Room Espresso, 450C Fitzgerald St, North Perth WA 6006, Phone 0420 703 419.
Delightful … Engine Room is a small and cosy café opposite the Rosemount Hotel on Fitzgerald Street. The décor is part industrial, part trashy chic. Decor includes distressed cement floors, exposed ceilings and eclectic furniture. There is a tiny but swish outdoor courtyard.
To The Woods, 9 Old Perth Road, Bassendean WA 6054, Phone 9377 2952.
A Little Haven … Steeling myself against the icy winds on Old Perth Road, I sort haven in To The Woods Cafe. The first thing that struck me was the very strong and delightful smell of coffee. Not overpowering just welcoming. The second thing was how warm and cosy it was inside the Cafe.
Salads and Raw Desserts … Tom’s Cafe is located in Tip Top Arcade on Oxford Street. Having walked through this arcade on every visit to Leederville I had never stopped to try the food. Today was different.
Foam Coffee Bar, 130 Oxford Street, Leederville WA 6007, Phone 9444 7475.
Frothy Foamy Cappuccinos … Must admit that Foam Coffee Bar is the place I head to for coffee in Leederville. Haven’t had a bad brew from here ever. The cappuccino is all foamy and the crema gives it a darker swirl. Their espresso is always a favourite of mine as well.
